U2be is a Belgian U2 tribute band. This page explains in plain words what this website knows about you, why, and what you can do about it. In short: we collect as little as possible, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we never sell your details or pass them on for marketing.
Who is responsible
U2be runs this website. For any question about your data, or to see, correct or delete it, mail info@u2be.eu.
When you just visit
- Visitor statistics. We count visits with Plausible Analytics, through our own server. Plausible uses no cookies, does not store your IP address and does not follow you from site to site or from day to day. We only see totals: which pages are read, which sites send visitors, and from which country, type of device and browser. These statistics are stored in the European Union.
- Technical log. Like every web server, ours writes a short log of requests: IP address, the page asked for, browser type and time. We only use it to keep the site running and to find problems. The log has a fixed maximum size, so old lines are overwritten automatically.
- Language cookie. When you choose a language with the NL, FR or EN links, a cookie named
localeremembers that choice for one year. It only contains "nl", "fr" or "en". The site sets no other cookies for visitors. The only other thing it keeps in your browser is the address of the page you are on, which is needed for the back button; it stays in your browser and is gone when you close the tab.
When you fill in a form
- Contact and booking form. You give your first name, last name, email address, the kind of concert and whether it is indoors or outdoors. Phone number, organisation, website, location, capacity, date and extra information are optional. The site mails this to the band and sends a copy to your own address, so we can answer you. It is not stored in the website's database. The mail stays in the band's mailbox like any other mail, until we delete it.
- Think Pink. When registration is open, you give your name, email address and the number of tickets. When bidding on the T-shirt is open, you give your name, email address, phone number and your bid. The site mails this to the band and to you, and also stores it in the website's database, with the date and time, so the band can keep the list. These entries have no automatic end date: they stay until we remove them. Ask us and we will delete yours.
- Spam protection. The forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. On a page with a form your browser loads a script from Cloudflare, which sees your IP address and browser details to judge whether a person or a robot is sending the form.
- If something goes wrong. When a form cannot be processed, what you filled in is mailed to the developer of the site, only to find and fix the problem.
Other services your browser contacts
- Photos and files come from our own storage at DigitalOcean, through its delivery network.
- SoundCloud. The music page shows a SoundCloud player as soon as it opens. Your browser then connects to SoundCloud, which may set its own cookies.
- YouTube. The preview pictures of videos, on the home page and the media pages, are loaded from YouTube (Google). The YouTube player itself only loads when you press play; from then on YouTube may set its own cookies. The "page not found" page shows a YouTube player straight away.
- Cloudflare Turnstile, on pages with a form, as described above.
- Nothing else. Fonts, icons and scripts come from our own server. The maps of venues are pictures our server makes from OpenStreetMap, so your browser does not contact a map service. The social media buttons are ordinary links: nothing is shared until you click one.
Who helps us run the site
- DigitalOcean: the server, the storage of photos and files and the backup of the database, in its data centre in Amsterdam.
- Resend: delivers the mails the site sends.
- Migadu: hosts the mailboxes of the band.
- Plausible and Cloudflare: statistics and spam protection, as described above.
They only receive what they need to do that job. We give your details to nobody else.
Band members who log in
The band manages the site in a private section. Of the people who have access we keep the email address. They log in with a one-time code sent by mail, which works for ten minutes. A cookie named u2be_admin keeps them logged in and expires after 30 days without use. Visitors never get this cookie.
Why we use your data
To answer your question or booking request, to handle your Think Pink registration or bid, to keep the site working and safe, and to know which pages are read. Nothing more.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Mail info@u2be.eu and we will answer within a month. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
Changes
When the site changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
